Horizon is going to Spain!

In July 2024, the choir will embark on a 10-day tour around Spain. The tour will kick off in Lliria with the world premiere of a commissioned work as part of the annual Edeta Arts Festival; followed by several performances as part of the Las Navas del Marqués International Music Festival in the medieval walled city of Avila.

Horizon will also showcase Manitoban and Canadian repertoire in churches in Alforja and Barcelona, including a performance in the renowned Sagrada Familia Cathedral. Between performances, the choir will collaborate with local choirs and composers in informal settings and gain an appreciation of Spanish culture and the central role that music plays in daily life.

The Horizon Spain Tour will provide an exciting opportunity for Manitoba to earn a place on the international choral arts scene, and allow Horizon to make meaningful connections with choirs, musicians, and audiences on the other side of the world.

It’s sure to be a trip to remember!
