Audition Information

Prairie Voices is for singers who:

  • are ages 18-25

  • are passionate about singing, and have choral experience

  • enjoy performing and travelling/touring with other singers

  • have some music reading skills, a strong sense of pitch, and an understanding of basic vocal technique

  • are open to all types and styles of music

Prairie Voices members can look forward to:

  • Weekly rehearsals with people who love what you love

  • Eclectic, varied, and challenging music

  • Workshops and clinics with Canada’s top vocal and choral experts

  • Local concerts at the city’s top venues

  • Collaboration with other choirs and singers in Prairie Voices Inc.

AUDITION PROCESS:

  1. Fill out this form.

  2. You will be contacted to book an audition.

New applicants will be asked to:

- prepare either the S and A parts, or T and B parts of the “Ave Maria” excerpt sent to them upon scheduling the audition

- prepare about two minutes of a song of their choice showing good vocal technique and range;

- sight-sing one or two melodies, and sight-clap one or two rhythmic passages

- have a short dialogue with the director and assistant

Every year Prairie Voices includes singers with varying levels experience and skill; the potential of the applicant's voice, as well as the applicant's attitude and personality, are important factors in our decision process.
